EAGLES, MARGARET SARAH - Surrounded by her loving family, Margaret Sarah Eagles formerly of Fredericton and Woodstock and most recently of Keswick, N.B. occurred Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was 89. Born June 17, 1922 at Keswick Ridge, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Millard and Ethel (Yerxa) Gordon. Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Margaret was a Switchboard Operator at the Victoria Public Hospital and The Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in the 1970’s. She was Baptist by faith. Surviving are two sons, Glendon Eagles (Sharon) of Grand Cache, Alberta and Donald Eagles (Norma Lee) of Beaverdam, N.B.; two daughters, Shirley Smith of Ontario and Ruth Anne Giberson (David) of Woodstock, N.B.; 15 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a special niece Mary Cain of Tracy, N.B. as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Margaret is also survived by her beloved companion Austin Fraser of Keswick, N.B. Margaret was predeceased by her parents; husband Leslie F. Eagles; brothers Stewart Gordon and Byron Gordon; sister Leona Blaney; sisters-in-law Hannah Gordon and Muriel Gordon; granddaughter Emily Eagles and great grandson Andrew Eagles.
The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 23 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society of N.B. would be appreciated by the family.
