Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Hospital on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, Anna Cole, aged 86 years. Born in Carbonear on November 28, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Pike. Anna raised a family after moving to St. John’s in 1946. She is predeceased by her loving husband Leonard, sister Lillian (Elliott), brothers Jack and Ralph; and close friend and cousin Helen Hamlyn. She leaves to mourn her daughter Marilyn (Robert) Nichols of St. John’s, and sons: Wayne (Judie) of Brisbane, Australia; Robert (Nicole) of Montreal and Arthur (Tracy) St. Albert, Alberta. Her sisters: Clarrie Murray of Carbonear and Mary Mills of St. John’s. Her grandchildren: Nancy (Darrin) Powrie, Luke and John Nichols, Marianne and Emily Cole; and Jacob and Andrew Cole. Also her great-grandchildren Liam and Annabelle Powrie. Also leaving to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. The family will receive visitors at Barrett's Funeral Home at 328 Hamilton Ave. on Thursday evening 7 - 9 pm and Friday afternoon 2 - 4 pm and evening 7 – 9. Funeral services will be held at Wesley United Church on Patrick St. in St. John’s at 11:00 am, Saturday July 23. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of one’s choice.
