Corner Brook, NL. It is with sadness that the family of the late Geraldine Hicks announce her passing at the Health Sciences Complex in St. John's, Newfoundland on Monday, 18 July 2011 at the age of 77 years from complications arising from surgery. She was born and lived her life in Corner Brook. She was predeceased by her parents, Maxwell Murphy and Matilda (Travers) Murphy. She was the eldest of four children including Barbara (Patten) of St. John's, Phyllis (Langille) of Ottawa and David of Pasadena, Newfoundland. For many years she was legal secretary to Clyde Wells in Corner Brook. She and her husband, Gerald, served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in New Mexico. She is survived by her husband, Gerald as well as four children: Larry and his wife Debbie of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Graham and his wife Adrienne of Toronto, Ontario, Stephen and his wife Mary of St. John's and Barry and his wife Cathy of Carbonear. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. All of her life she enjoyed her family and good friends. She will be missed. Friends may call to pay their respects at Fillatre's Funeral Home at 4 St. Mark's Avenue in Corner Brook on Thursday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Corner Brook Chapel on Montgomery Street at 2 PM on Friday, 22 July.
