The family of Douglas McHarg wish to announce his unexpected passing on June 30th 2011 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon after valiant battle with diabetes. Doug is survived by his wife Joyce, sons Garth (Nancey) children Dax & Madison, Scot (Sherry) children Jessica, Matthew & Adam, Hugh (Debbie) children Morgan, Amanda & Lindsey, One sister Velma Ell of Shellbrook. Doug was born January 19th, 1937 in Melfort, grew up on the family farm at Lenvale and completed his schooling in Fairy Glenn. Growing up, Doug travelled to school in the winter on a tobagaan with his favourite horse Pepper. Upon leaving school Doug worked in a bank, but his love for the outdoors prompted him to switch careers and he joined and retired with Sask Power. Doug was married to Joyce Aasen, a school mate and they lived in different areas depending where his job took him. They finally settled in Prince Albert. Doug truly enjoyed the north and retired at Lac La Ronge in a cabin he built at Napatak in 1991. Doug enjoyed fishing and spent many hours enjoying the scenery, always with his rod and reel handy. He was predeceased by his parents Alex, Margaret McHarg, a brother Lyle (Lucy), a brother Bud, infant sister Inez and brother in law Joe Ell. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 23rd, 2011 10:30 am from the Chapel of Melfort Funeral Home and memory contributions can be directed to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
