SEIBEL - It is with great sadness that the family of John G. Seibel announce his passing on Saturday, September 12, 2009. He was born on the family farm south of Morse, SK, on April 29, 1915. Morse was his town, and as he would say, “there was no place like Morse.†He received a grade eight education, but farming was his goal in life, so he started farming with his parents. On June 9, 1935, he married Hilda Hahn and continued to farm with his parents on the same farmyard as his parents were living. Farming was John’s pride and joy. Hilda kept a journal and in it she wrote, ‘a half-section of land was all we had and after harvest when all the shares of crop were divided, there wasn’t much for us, but we were farmers at heart, so we raised pigs, chickens, cattle and farmed with horses’. John and Hilda lived on the family farm until they retired and moved to Morse. They lived in Morse until July, 2004, when Hilda became sick and John was not well, they moved to the Herbert Integrated Health Facility Long Term Care. Hilda passed away on September 15, 2004. John loved his family and provided faithfully for them. He loved to curl and play baseball, and, “he was goodâ€, so he told me. He would tell of his many curling shots, the many curling trophies he and Hilda had won, and the many homeruns he hit at the many ballgames he played. John is survived by his two sons, Arnie (Elaine) Seibel, of Victoria, BC, and their children, Kevin (Sylvia) Seibel, of Victoria, BC, and their daughters, Abbey and Hanna: Leanne (Ed) Atkinson, of Princeton, BC, and their children, Holly and Graham: Donald (Judy) Seibel, of Herbert, SK, and their children, Brent Seibel of Medicine Hat, AB, and Tammy Seibel of Medicine Hat, AB. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Hilda Seibel; his parents, George and Christine Seibel; his brothers, Jake, Gottfried, Gust; and by his sisters, Mary, Lily and Molly. John will be sadly missed by his family and friends. In closing to this life chapter, John’s family would like to express a sincere thank you for the wonderful care and loving atmosphere provided, during his five year stay, by the staff of the Herbert Integrated Health Facility Long Tern Care. Thank you to all staff. ~ The Seibel Family. The memorial service was held on Monday, September 21, 2009, at 2:30 pm from the Morse Community Hall, Morse, SK, with Pastor Kevin Snyder, from East Side Church of God in Swift Current, officiating. Family reflections were shared by sons, Arnie and Donald and by granddaughters, Tammy and Leanne. A musical selection, “Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone†was brought by a grandson, Kevin. The graveside service preceded the memorial service and was held at the Gnadeneau Cemetery, Flowing Well, SK, with the following serving as pallbearers, Don and Judy Seibel, Arnie and Elaine Seibel, Brent Seibel, Tammy Seibel, Kevin Seibel and Leanne Atkinson. In memory of John G. Seibel, donations made to the East Side Church of God or to the Herbert & District Health Care Facility (long term care) would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift current, SK.
