APPS – William Leonard Eugene. It is with great sorrow that we, the family of William “Bill” Apps announce his passing September 16, 2009. Bill was born in Prince Albert, November 4, 1934. He worked at the brewery from 1953 to 1966. He married Dolores McLennan on December 7, 1957. In 1966 he and Dolores moved their family to New Zealand. They lived there for eight years before returning to Canada. It was always his dream to return to New Zealand, but unfortunately that dream was not realized. Bill last worked at Carlton High School for 13 years until he took an early retirement due to ill health. Even though his activities were sometimes limited, he made the best of this time to continue enjoying the activities he loved the most. Bill was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, golfer, outdoorsman and (sometimes not so) handyman. He loved hunting with his sons and friends, and fishing with his grandchildren. He and his wife shared a passion for bowling that often brought home trophies, and he passed his passion on to his children and grand-children. He loved golfing with his family, teaching the proper stance and even helping them find the right clubs. He was a strong advocate for equal rights and always wanted what was right and best for everyone. It was his dream to see his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren flourish, to find their happiness and success in life, regardless of what they did. He was someone you could always turn to for the answers. Later in life, he donated generously to several charities. He loved and was strongly loved back by animals; he had a special weakness for homeless cats and dogs. Mom and Dad always had an open door policy for any friends and family who came to visit. Dad will be lovingly remembered by the grandkids for his homemade fudge, cookies, and even for patiently teaching them how to knit! Of all his accomplishments, he was especially proud to have been married for 42 years. Bill will be remembered by his children and grandchildren as a man of few words, but his love was conveyed through his actions. He was always there for us in so many different ways. Bill is survived by his children Kimberly Rowe, Ken (Melinda) Apps, Alyson (William) Hill; his daughter-in-law Lucy Apps; his grandchildren Courtney (Chris) Dunn, Teri Apps (Keston), Cara (Wade) Gillespie, Will Apps, Rustee Apps, Amber(Matthew) Barbeler, Colby Apps, Darrian Hill, Kendra Hill; his great grandchildren Taylor, Donovan, Jenna, Dominic, Ethan, Mackenzie, and Jerzey; his brother Dennis (Marion) Apps of Prince George, BC; his aunt Jean Gonneville of Prince Albert, SK; his best friend Mr. Finley Wait of Prince Albert; and numerous in-laws. The family also acknowledges the many acts of kindness and concern of his neighbor, Debbie Minifee, over the past several years. He was predeceased by younger brother Ken, parents Ev and Dudley Apps, wife Dolores, son Len, great granddaughter Kirsten, and numerous aunts and uncles.In lieu of flowers, please honour Dad and his love of animals by making a donation to the S.P.C.A., 670-10th Street East, Prince Albert, SK or to the Canadian Lung Association, 1231 8th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S7H 0S5.
