HILL, JAMES STEWART - Stewart Hill of Hampton, husband of the late Hilda (MacIntosh) Hill, passed away July 24, 2011 at the Sussex Health Centre. He was born in Yarmouth, NS, son of the late Myles and Mary (McLean) Hill. Stewart was involved in the trucking industry all of his life, as both a truck driver and a gifted mechanic. In his early years he enjoyed building and racing stock cars. He also designed and built woods machinery and was well known for his ability to create equipment that was serviceable and very unique. Stewart was a shareholder of Kingsco Transport and worked the share hauling dump trailer in the US and Canada. He was well known for his interesting stories and recanting his many experiences with fellow truckers. Stewart was a Director at Titus Hill Cemetery, Titusville. In his later years he wintered in Florida and spent time with friends there, and particularly enjoyed trips to flea markets and antique auto shows. He enjoyed Nascar and stock car races. Most of all he loved spending time with Thelma and working with Jamie in the garage. He is survived by one son James “Jamie” Hill (Susan), Mount Hebron, NB; one granddaughter, Danielle Hill (Al Scott), Hampton; two great grandchildren, Alita and James Scott; and special friend, Thelma Floyd.
There will be no visitation by request. The funeral will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Salina Kirk United Church, Salt Springs, with Rev. Karen MacNeill officiating. Interment in Titus Hill Cemetery, Titusville. Memorials to Canadian Cancer Society or IWK would be appreciated. The arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home, Hampton.
