age 67, of St. Bernard’s, formerly of St. Brendan’s, passed peacefully away on September 23, 2009 at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Ontario surrounded by his family and friends. Predeceased by father, William, mother, Kathleen, and brother, Harold. Captain Furlong is survived by his loving wife Anita, daughter Amanda Williams, son-in-law Darren; sons John, daughter-in-law Michelle and Jason, daughter-in-law Nadine; grandchildren Nathan, Jack, Maria, Madison, Gracie, Trent and Camryn; brothers Mike (Joan), Greg (Lorraine), Ron (Bev), Cyril (Lorraine), Bill (Rose); sisters Ann Walsh (Lou deceased), Martina White (Matt), and Agnes Donahue (Gerry); brothers-in-law Bernard Hodder (Pierrette), John Hodder (Marie); sisters-in-law Leona Waddleton (Albert deceased), Vera Hackett (Kevin deceased), Mary Hodder (Doug), Barbara Fewer (Alfred), Pauline Fowler (Albert), and Carol Ann Molloy (Hugh); a large circle of nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends, especially Doug Hodder. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Bryson and his caring team at the PMH Palliative Care Unit. Resting and visitation to take place from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church in St. Bernard's on Monday Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Prayer vigil will take place on Monday Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. Funeral mass to take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church in St. Bernard’s on Tuesday Sept. 29, 2009 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic cemetery in St. Bernard’s. Flowers greatly appreciated as well as donations to Princess Margaret Hospital.
