STELLARTON - Mark “Wayne” Scott, 67, of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Stellarton passed away Saturday, September 26th, 2009 at the Manor.
Born in New Glasgow, Wayne was the son of the late Mark and Mary (Rawlings) Scott. Wayne was a lifelong resident of Stellarton.
He worked at Clairetone and TrentonWorks before being employed at Sobey’s warehouse for a number of years, from where he retired.
He started playing in bands in the late 50’s. He was a vocalist and played the key board playing with local bands The Atomics, The Wylde Pack, Southern Comfort, Scamp, The Jonathan T. Band and The Classic’s.
Wayne is survived by sons, Darren (Cheryl), Ottawa; and Gavin, Stellarton; their mother, Gail (MacDonald) Meikle, Drew Meikle, Alberta and Laura Lee Meikle, Thailand; grandchildren, Mark and Simone, numerous cousins in Pictou County, Ontario and the USA; and his new family at the Glen Haven Manor.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the H. C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton.
Family graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Cemetery with Father Peter MacDonald officiating.
Donations in memory of Wayne may be made to the Pictou County SPCA.
