Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, Frank passed away in Ottawa, Ont., after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was a proud Cape Bretoner, an avid outdoorsman and reader and a history enthusiast.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, formerly Hayes (Hackett); sister, Joan Rossitter (Carl); son, Blair Stevens (Bonnie); daughters, Valerie Bell (David - deceased Aug. 20, 2009) and Gail Fonseca (Paulo); stepson, Jeffrey Hayes and his extended family of 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, first wife, Eleanor (Stacey 1992) and sister, Dolly MacLean.
Frank spent his early career years in Atlantic Canada with such companies as Chappell’s Ltd., M.R. Chappell Ltd., Thompson Sutherland, Sumners Ltd. and Lundrigens of Newfoundland. His career with Parks Canada in the 70s and 80s included postings in Newfoundland, Ontario and British Columbia.
An interment service will be held at the First United Church Cemetery in Louisbourg, Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at 2 p.m. Coffee and tea will follow at First United Church hall, Main and Warren streets, Louisbourg.
