The death occurred peacefully at his residence in Elmira on August 1, 2011, of Rufus Sweeney, age 72 years.
Beloved husband of Kay Sweeney (nee Campbell). Loving father of Danny, Glenn (Linda) and Susan (Alan). Loving grandfather (Gramps) to Riley, Jayden, Hannah and Camden. Survived by brothers, Joe, Eddie and Richard; sisters, Kay and Barb.
Predeceased by parents, Ramie and Mary Ann Sweeney; sisters, Mags, Anne and infant sister, Mary; brothers, Buddy and George.
Resting at the Dingwell Funeral Home in Souris for visiting hours on Thursday, August 4, 2011, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday morning 9-10:30 a.m.
Funeral to be held on Friday morning to St. Columba Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield for funeral mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment in the parish cemetery.
Memorials to the Souris Hospital or the P.E.I. Cancer Treatment Centre would be appreciated.
