Lorraine Dunn (née Boucher) 1926-2023

Entourée par les siens, Lorraine Dunn est décédée à l’âge de 96 ans à Cowansville le 20 mars 2023. Elle était la fille de feu Israël Boucher et de feu Alfrida Lefebvre. Elle fut l’épouse de feu John Dunn pendant 64 ans, la mère admirée de ses trois filles : Brenda (Jean-Pierre Lardeau), feu Suzanne (Nicholas Kitto) et Sandra (Roger Reed), la grand-mère chérie de quatre petites-filles : Roxane (Guillaume Lesbros), Nadine (Robert Switzer), Marie-Pierre (Sameer Bhatnagar) et Maxine (Shaun Dooley), et une arrière-grand-mère émerveillée par Ryder, Samuel, Louis, Owen, Sophie, Mathieu, Hudson, Clément et Raphaël.
Elle rejoint sa sœur Françoise Boucher (feu Paul Poirier) et ses frères Normand Boucher (Monique) et Réginald Boucher (feu Maud). Elle laisse dans le deuil ses sœurs Isabelle Boucher (feu Roch St-Germain), Jeanne Boucher (feu Mario Bolduc) et son frère Merrill Boucher (feu Marielle). Elle rejoint ses belles-sœurs Bernadette (feu Harold Brousseau), Marguerite (feu Luc Girard) et Ruth (feu Hugh Peckham) ainsi que ses beaux-frères: Ross (feu Simone), Jean Luc (feu Monique), Roch (feu Stella), Denis (feu Denise) et Russell (Francine). Elle laisse dans le deuil ses belles-sœurs Céline (feu Robert Lambert) et France (feu Marcel Pilon) ainsi que de nombreux neveux, nièces et amis.
Après avoir été employée de bureau à l’usine Bruck Mills de Cowansville dès l’âge de 16 ans, Lorraine devint une femme d’affaires, d’abord à Sweetsburg, puis à Cowansville, où John Dunn et elle tinrent un magasin de meubles. Elle y révéla ses capacités pour la comptabilité, la vente ainsi que son aptitude à décorer des vitrines qui attiraient l’attention des passants. Toujours d’une élégance discrète, elle aimait voyager et pratiquer le golf. Sa famille et ses amis conserveront un vif souvenir de son remarquable talent pour recevoir et préparer des repas mémorables ainsi que de son goût pour la lecture qu’elle communiqua tôt à ses enfants.
La famille recevra les condoléances le samedi matin 20 mai entre 9h et 10h30 à l’église Sainte-Rose-de-Lima de Cowansville où auront également lieu les funérailles à 10h30. Après la messe célébrée avec accompagnement musical, l’inhumation aura lieu dans l’intimité familiale à 12h15 au cimetière catholique Saint-Édouard à Knowlton.
Nos remerciements les plus vifs vont au personnel médical de l’Urgence et des Soins intensifs de l’hôpital BMP de Cowansville, qui l’a traitée avec dignité, aux membres de la famille et à Francine Goyer pour leur aide.

Surrounded by her loved ones, Lorraine Dunn died at the age of 96 in Cowansville on March 20, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Israel Boucher and the late Alfrida Lefebvre. She was the wife of the late John Dunn for 64 years, the admired mother of her three daughters: Brenda (Jean-Pierre Lardeau), the late Suzan (Nicholas Kitto) and Sandra (Roger Reed), the cherished grandmother of four granddaughters: Roxane (Guillaume Lesbros), Nadine (Robert Switzer), Marie-Pierre (Sameer Bhatnagar) and Maxine (Shaun Dooley), and a great-grandmother in awe of Ryder, Samuel, Louis, Owen, Sophie, Mathieu, Hudson, Clement and Raphaël.
She joins her sister Françoise Boucher (the late Paul Poirier) and her brothers Normand Boucher (Monique) and Reginald Boucher (the late Maud). She is survived by her sisters Isabelle Boucher (the late Roch St-Germain), Jeanne Boucher (the late Mario Bolduc) and her brother Merrill Boucher (the late Marielle). She joins her sisters-in-law Bernadette (the late Harold Brousseau), Marguerite (the late Luc Girard) and Ruth (the late Hugh Peckham) as well as her brothers-in-law: Ross (the late Simone), Jean Luc (the late Monique), Roch (the late Stella), Denis (the late Denise) and Russell (Francine). She leaves behind her sisters-in-law Céline (the late Robert Lambert) and France (the late Marcel Pilon) as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
After working as a clerk at the Bruck Mills factory in Cowansville from the age of 16, Lorraine became a businesswoman, first in Sweetsburg, then in Cowansville, where John Dunn and she ran a furniture store. She revealed there her capacities for accounting, sales as well as her aptitude to decorate the shop window which attracted the attention of passers-by. Always discreetly elegant, she loved traveling and playing golf. Her family and friends will keep vivid memories of her remarkable talent for entertaining and preparing memorable meals, as well as her love of reading, which she passed on to her children at an early age.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, May 20 between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Sainte-Rose-de-Lima church in Cowansville, where the funeral will also take place at 10:30 a.m. After the mass celebrated with musical accompaniment, there will be a private family burial at 12:15 p.m. in the Saint-Edouard Catholic Cemetery in Knowlton.
Our deepest thanks go to the medical staff of Emergency and Intensive Care at the BMP Hospital in Cowansville, who treated her with dignity, to the members of the family, and to Francine Goyer, for their help.
