GOODWIN, Howard Lewis – 83, of Pleasant Street, Yarmouth N.S. passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on July 28, 2011. Born July 3, 1928, in Argyle, he was a son of the late James and Ora Mae (Kenney) Goodwin. First and foremost, he was a wonderful husband and father and loved his grandchildren very much. Howard had a long career with Maritime Tel and Tel where he worked for 33 years. He was a member of the Yarmouth Volunteer Fire Department, the Telephone Pioneers and the Brooklyn Bright Lights Seniors Club. Howard was an avid bowler and loved the game of cribbage. He loved camping and was a sports fan, being especially fond of baseball and hockey. Howard will be sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret (Spears) Goodwin; daughter, Nancy (Mark) Kleiner; sons, Douglas (Sally) Goodwin; Steven Goodwin; Brian (Cynthia) Goodwin and Gary (Beverly) Goodwin; brother, Willard, Kentville N.S.; and ten grandchildren. He is predeceased by brothers, Alvin, Arnold, Clarence, Lloyd and George; sisters, Edith, Barbara and Ruth. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. There was no visitation by family request. A memorial service was held Monday, August 1 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Brian Wallace officiated. Interment followed in Brooklyn Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Gilles Boudreau and Friend’s Cancer Fund. Flowers are welcomed.
