Pearson: Thomas Latimer "Lat" Pearson, age 98 years and 6 months, of Swift Current, Sk passed away at Foyer St Joseph, Ponteix, Sk. The Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9th from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Reverend Sharon Ferguson-Hood officiating. The organist was Arlene Olson. The Elks Eleventh Hours Rites were observed by Colin Cowan and Members of the Elks Lodge. Pallbearers were Colin Cowan, Clint Terlson and family members. Honorary Pallbearers were all Elks members, Lodge 8 and Zone 15. The Interment Service took place at Hillcrest Cemetery. Lat is survived by his children; Margaret Ann (Don) Payjack of Calgary, Ab.; Lawrence (Sally) Pearson of Red Deer, Ab.; Kay (Gerald) Hollis of Regina, Sk.; Allan (Cathy) Pearson of Chapeau, Qc. and Kevin (Teresa) Pearson of Swift Current, Sk.; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Ada Pearson on June 21, 2004 and brother Andrew Graham Pearson of Hamilton in 2010. Lat was born in Calgary, Ab. On January 29, 1913. The family moved to Swift Current shortly after his birth. He attended school in Swift Current and on September 12, 1935, he married Margaret Ada Sullivan in Swift Current. Lat worked for Canada Post in Swift Current until his retirement after 32 years of service on December 28, 1973. In his retirement he enjoyed trips to the cabin at Clearwater Lake and enjoyed walking "Roxy" and Kevin's other dogs. Most of his time, he spent doing charity work for the Elks Club, organizing and selling raffle tickets and attending district meetings. He was a member of Elks of Canada for 43 years, serving as Past Exalted Ruler of Lodge 8 in Swift Current and Past District Deputy of zone 15 and a life member. He was also an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 56 in Swift Current and the Ashley Park Community Association. In his youth, Lat was proficient at snooker and pool, racking balls and tables at the pool hall and at time "Playing for the house" when hot shot pool sharks wanted a game. Lat will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends.
