It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our dear mother Alice MacDonald, on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Alice was born in Wilburn, Inverness County, and was the daughter of the late Archibald and Flora (MacDonald) MacLellan.
Prior to becoming a devoted wife and mother Alice went to business school and was employed in the secretarial field. Her greatest joys were reading and spending time with family and friends.
Alice will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Janet (Brian) Alexander, St. Albert, Alta.; sons, Grant (Susan) Mac Donald and Darryl (Bonnie) MacDonald, both of Sydney Forks; and her brother, Donald (Sally) MacLellan, England; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Ian, a son in infancy, brothers, Johnny and George, and sisters, Jessie Christine, and Nellie.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 11 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m Friday, Aug. 12 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment to take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
