It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ellen Margaret White age 71 of Amherst and formerly of River Hebert announce her passing on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Gables Lodge, Amherst, NS.
Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Catherine "Katie" (Edwards) Burbine.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. Ellen enjoyed a good joke and listening to country music.
Ellen is survived by her children, Roger (Chrystal) White of Fort Lawrence, Anita (John) Smith of Tidnish, Virginia (Donald) Pedersen of Alberta and Anthony of Hamilton, ON; two brothers, Bill (Jean) Burbine of Joggins and Eric (Brenda) Burbine of Amherst; five grandchildren, Natasha, Devin, Abby, Elaine and Abrey and one great granddaughter Alexis.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Emmerson "Sonny" and one infant sister Kristina and also by her husband Reg.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m. all in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906).
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 10 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.
Interment will take place in the Ragged Reef Cemetery, Joggins.
Memorial donations in Ellen's memory may be made to the Cumberland VON or the Arthritis Society.
