It is with great sadness the family of the late Martha Elizabeth Francis announces her passing on August 4, 2011 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 87 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: sons (Dorman), Uxbridge, ON; (George, Clayton and Garfield), Isle aux Morts, NL; (Samuel), St. John’s, NL, (Goward), Grand Prairie, AB; daughters, (Loretta, Elizabeth and Karen), Isle aux Morts, NL. Also left to mourn with fond and loving memories are 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, five daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, sister Priscilla Huelin, a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased her husband Samuel, Aug. 31, 1995, sister Lorena Billard, brother Garfield Walters, granddaughter Pattie Francis and son-in-law Thomas Delorey. The family received friends at Holy Spirit Church in Isle aux Morts, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Aug. 5th and 6th and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 7th. Funeral services took place on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. at Holy Spirit Church in Isle aux Morts officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter. The interment of ashes service took place at 11 a.m. on Aug. 9th at Hillside Haven Cemetery officiated by Rev. Kris Gosse. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, NL.
