Florence Katherine MacDonald, a resident of Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Mary Ann (MacLean) MacDonald.
Florence was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was an avid card player, enjoyed bingo and loved horse racing.
Surviving are her son, Neil Alexander MacCandless (Brenda Newell), Sydney; sisters, Eileen (Charlie) Arbuckle, Mahone Bay and Mary (the late Eugene) Perry, Boston; grandchildren, Rene and Liam MacCandless, Glace Bay; and Hannah and Olivia, who held a special place in her heart.
Florence was predeceased by her son, Billy; sister, Caddy (the late Charles) Heing and brothers, Lauchie and Alex.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Union Presbyterian Church on Monday 2 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating. Interment in Loch End Cemetery.
