Townsend, Basil Albert - July 3, 1941 – August 3, 2011. It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Basil Albert Townsend of Lockeport, N.S. Basil passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Roseway Hospital, Shelburne. Born on July 3, 1941 he was the son of the late Basil Whitman Townsend, Lillian (Guy) Townsend and Morris and Margarie Townsend. Basil was known for his jovial spirit, for being an avid outdoorsman and an artist. His artwork was featured in museums throughout Kentucky where he spent nearly 30 years of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Beverley Ann Townsend, son Eric Wayne Townsend (wife Shelley), granddaughter Faith Nicole of Kentucky. Also survived by sons, Harry, Evie and daughter Rena; brothers, Frank, Kenneth, George, Leroy and sister, Kimberley. He was predeceased by parents, Basil, Lillian, Mae and Marge Townsend and wife Edith of Kentucky. Brothers, Eric and Wayne, daughter Rena, numerous family and friends from across Canada and the U.S. gathered in his honor on August 5, 2011. His family and children send a special thanks to all those who expressed their love and admiration.
