TOWNSEND, Basil Albert, 70, Surf Lodge Nursing Home, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in Roseway Hospital, Shelburne, NS lovingly surrounded by family. Born in Truro, NS, he was the only son of the late Basil and Lillian (Guy) Townsend, and the adopted son of the late Morris and Margery Townsend of East Green Harbour. An accomplished preacher, tradesman, and artist, he lived in the USA most of his adult life until his return to his home in East Green Harbour in 2002. He is survived by three sons: Harry, Evie, and Eric; two daughters Rena and Beverly; several grandchildren and half siblings, and cousin Pat (Townsend) Malloy of East Green Harbour and her family. He was predeceased by loving wife Edith (Vickers) Townsend. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home with interment at Harbour Light Pentecostal Cemetery in East Green Harbour.
