The death occurred peacefully at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 of Waldon ‘Wally’ J. MacGillivray, FCA of Summerside and formerly of Cape Breton, NS, aged 75 years.
Wally was born on March 29, 1934 in Victoria Mines, NS, to his late parents Waldon and Laura (nee Ling) MacGillivray. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Gourley) MacGillivray and loving father of Murray (Dianne) of Oakville, ON, Laura MacGillivray of Halifax, NS, Jennifer (Richard) Schmalz of Halifax, NS and Maureen (Paul) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren, David, Daniel, Nadene, Melanie, Rebecca and Katherine; along with many nieces and nephews. Survived by his brothers and sisters, Geraldine MacSween of Antigonish, NS, Mary MacNeil, Bernadette Dunphy, James and Muriel Harter, all of Cape Breton, NS and Blaze of Ontario.
Besides his parents, Wally was predeceased by his sisters, Lenore Parker, Laura Meritt and Genevieve Boudreau.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, October 5, 2009, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place later in Cape Breton, NS.
