McMullin, Louise 80, of Brookfield, died peacefully at home on Friday, September 25 surrounded by her family. Born in Brookfield, she was a daughter of the late Carletta and George R. Sutherland. Louise was educated in Brookfield and Truro. She concluded her working career as the bookkeeper for her brother Charlie at Brookfield Sales and Service. Upon retirement, Louise remained active in community activities and enjoyed curling, bowling, golfing, spending summers at Brule Beach, and spoiling her two granddaughters. Louise is survived by her son, Phil (Kitty), Brookfield; daughter, Krista (Terry Canning), Brookfield; granddaughters, Cst. Janelle Canning, Port Hardy, BC; and Joanna Canning, Alberta. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Margaret Sutherland, Truro and numerous nieces and nephews. Louise is missed not only by her family but by lifelong friend, Eloise Yorke and Tikki (the family dog). She was predeceased by her husband, Ian and infant son, Terry. Louise was also predeceased by sisters Frances Dennis and Margaret Turner, brothers Evan and Charlie, and niece Susan (Turner) Briggs. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service for Louise will be held on October 6 at 2 PM at Knox United Church in Brookfield, the Rev. Larry Harrison officiating; the family will meet friends for a reception in the church hall following the service. Interment will then be held in the Brookfield Westside Cemetery. Family flowers only; memorial donations may be made following the service at the church office to Knox United Church or Colchester East Hants Community Hospice Society.
