TURPLE, Bertha Jennie “Aunt Bert” – 99, Townsview Estates, Truro, formerly of Robie Street, Truro. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear aunt and friend. Bertha passed away peacefully, with loving family at her side, on Sunday evening, August 14, 2011, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born January 21, 1912, in Admiral Rock, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late Ernel and Alice (Brimicombe) Turple. Bertha is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews as well as a number of great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Nettie Gray; brothers, Stanley, Leslie, Harry, George; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Townsview Estates, Dr. Cam Jeffrey and the staff in the Emergency Room Department and on Floor 3N, Colchester Regional Hospital for their kindness and outstanding care of our loved one. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Bertha’s family will receive friends from 2-2:45 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011, followed by a celebration of her life at 3 p.m., Reverend Dr. Frank Locke officiating. Interment in Fort Ellis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bertha’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association or Cystic Fibrosis Society or a charity of choice are welcomed.
