ELKINK - Anna Isabella passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK at the age of 85 years. Anna was born on November 30, 1923 at the Gateway farm 6 miles East of Strasbourg. She graduated from Strasbourg High School in 1941 and Normal School in Regina in 1942. Anna married Dick Elkink on October 2, 1947 in Regina and they lived for almost 45 years at the Ranch in the Great Sand Hills West of Hazlet. She was a teacher and taught at a number of rural schools: Mount Hill near Strasbourg, Jellico near Dodsland, Boyer Lake (where she met Dick) Abernathy, Happy Valley and Hazlet. Anna was active in her local church, loved music and was a pianist/organist and choir member. She was a member of the Hazlet Historical Society and a member of the Sandhills Home Care board. She spent the last 16 years in Swift Current and will be dearly missed by her family (especially Jesse) and many friends. She leaves to mourn her passing; Children John Elkink (Cora), Gerrit Elkink (Deb) and Lorie Jean Elkink-Wiebe (Ben); Grandchildren Mike(Renee), Sean, Tyler, Meghan and Challis Elkink, Zachery and Jesse Wiebe and Hillery Macfie (Craig); Brothers and Sisters Les Ross, Betsy Bosma (Don), Grace McGowan (Don) and Vida Ruth Hickey (Ken) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents David and Elizabeth Ross; Husband Dick Elkink; Brothers Archie, John, Duncan and Charlie Ross; Sister Ellen Ross and Granddaughter Leah Elkink. A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Trailview Alliance Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Mike Smart officiating. The pianist was Wayne Regier, soloist was John Regier and the eulogy was read by Theresa Murray. Interment in Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK, to be held at a later date.
