Smith, Doris – 90, Truro passed away August 16, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro after a short but courageous battle with Leukemia. Doris was born in Barrow-in-Furnes, England and was a daughter of the late Harry and Sara Robinson. Doris and her immediate family immigrated to Canada in 1957. She worked at Mills Bros., Halifax for many years before moving to Truro in 1985. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Truro. Doris was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Boyle, RAF (1945) and her second husband, Henry Smith (2000). Doris’ first love was always her family. She is survived by son, John; grandchildren, Christopher and Adrian, Toronto; daughter Julie (Ron Chalmers), Truro; grandchildren, Cathy (Chuck Williams), Tantallon, Scott, Ft. Myers, Florida; great-grandsons, Matthew and Benjamin Williams whom she adored. Doris is also survived by sisters, Audrey, Winnie and many nieces and nephews in England. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 19th at 2 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. John Tonks officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colchester Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice.
