SMITH, MARY JOSEPHINE (nee MAHAR) - It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Smith announce her passing, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Oromocto Public Hospital on August 16th, 2011. Born in St. George, NB, on March 24th, 1936 to the late Gregory and Ruth Ring, Mary resided in French Lake, NB. Mary leaves behind her beloved husband of 38 years, Neil Leslie Smith of French Lake; her eight children, Joan Marie Voth (Allen) of Fredericton, David Burden of Calgary, AB, Arnold Westall (Joanne) of Windsor, NS, Judith Ann Standring (Mark) of Miramichi, Patricia Ruth Stevens (Timmy) of Rusagonis, Darlene Alice Phillips (Duane) of Bishops Falls, NL, Darrell Edwin Westall (Angel) of Fredericton, and Douglas Earl Westall (Erika) of Fredericton Junction. Mary also leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Mona Ruth Morgan, Eric Gregory Ring, Gregory K. Ring and the late Clara Eleanor Beattie and Gary George Ring.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, August 18th, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Geary Lions Club on Friday, August 19th at 2 pm with a viewing from 12 to 1:30 pm. A reception will be held at the Lions Club following interment in the Morrow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory made to the Geary Pentecostal Church Building Fund or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
