Date de décès : 14 août 2011
On August 14, 2011 Mr. Richard (Dick) Suttie passed away peacefully at the Kamloops Hospice Home at the age of 51 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Heather, his mother Kay Suttie of Kamloops, his two sons Jason Land of Kamloops and Warren (Robyn) Land of Airdrie, Alberta and his grandchild Sophia. Also left to cherish his memory are his brother John (Judy) Suttie, two sisters Mary (Gord) Lester and Kathleen (Tom) Hilborn, brother-in-law Keith (Ilona) Hayden, sisters-in-law Deb (Wayne) Dunaway, Tammy (Gary) Brooks and nieces and nephews: Mairi, Christine and Colin Lester, Andrea and Meghan Hilborn, Anne (Josh) Klok, Matt (Rani) Hayden, Kalie Hayden, Jeremy (Candace) Dunaway, Michelle (Steven) Carnovale, Nichole Dunaway (Sonny), Sarah and Laura Brooks.
Dick was predeceased by his father Charles Suttie.
He was a friend to everyone he met and lived life to the fullest. When asked after diagnosis, "do you have any regrets?" looked amazed for a moment and said "No, I did everything I wanted to do!" Dick had a positive attitude from day one, being told he had a brain tumour without too much hesitation he said "well, we are just going to deal with it!"
No adventure left untried - there will be more but not in this world.
His passion was pit wall fire safety at the Indy Car races, and any sports he took on he mastered very quickly. He worked 31 years at Highland Valley Copper, and was a member of the onsite emergency response team and successfully competed in mine rescue competitions.
He valued family and friends and was especially charmed by his grandchild Sophia.
