It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and sister, Emma MacDonald on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in St. Paul de Kent, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and (Julie) Collet.
She was a loving mother, who enjoyed spending time with her family. She treated everyone as if they were her grandchildren.
Emma had a great sense of humour, she enjoyed spending time in her garden and walking.
Emma also affectionately known as Ninny is survived by her children, William ‘Bill’ (Maude) Broussard, Fred (Mary) Broussard, both of Sydney, Mary Ann Perry, Moncton, Julie (Angus) MacIntyre, Albert (Louise) Broussard, Joseph (Raylene) Broussard, all of Sydney, Johnny (Anne Marie) Broussard, Porter’s Lake, Roseanne (Larry) Huntington, Marion Bridge; her 29 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Annie Breau, St. Peter’s, Mary Stone, Sydney, George Collet and Joey (Mary) Collet, both of Toronto, Alphonse Collet, Hay Cove; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Broussard, second husband, Donald MacDonald, her daughter, Irene Hawco, son-in-law, Reg Perry, her sister, Regina, brothers, Frank, Pius, John and Edmond, three siblings in infancy.
Visitation will be held today (Monday, Aug. 22) at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at St. Theresa’s Church, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
