Audrey Bernice (Haight) Walker, 87, of Lake Midway. On Aug. 8, 2011, Audrey decided to make a journey on her own. Before she went, she gave to those she treasured her words of wisdom, love, laughter, and strength, and then she said goodbye; this was her way of doing things. As she departed she was surrounded by the love of those she leaves behind. Born on March 31, 1924, she was the daughter of the late George and Lena (Westcott) Haight. In her twentieth year she met and married William (Billy) Gordon Walker and during their time together they had five children, Richard, Tiny, Phillip, Edwina and Everett. She considered all of her in-laws her children as well. There are 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way in the near future, and three step-great-grandchildren. She considered this quite an accomplishment “for an old bird.” She cherished us all and her tenacious spirit will always be with us and in our hearts. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her brother, Winthrop; two grandchildren, Peggy Sue and Isaac; as well as two great-grandchildren. Cremation has been done by Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, B4P 1E7. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
