McBurnie, Aubrey Warren, 82, of Economy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born in Economy he was a son of the late Warren and Clara (Marsh) McBurnie. Aubrey worked on the Niagara Falls Hydro Project in the early 50’s. He then worked as an Underground Mechanical Foreman in Quebec. He worked at the St. Lawrence Seaway as a heavy duty mechanic and then was a snowplow driver for many years. He was Area Foreman for the Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1990. After his retirement he logged until the present time and with all he did in his life he also was a full time farmer raising beef cattle. Aubrey loved the outdoors and especially his time in the woods. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Goldie “Parrill” McBurnie; children, Susan Beaver (David), Leonard McBurnie (Diane), Andrew McBurnie, all of Economy, Lisa McBurnie, Glenholme; sister, Mary Krmpotich, Wawa, ON; grandchildren Angie, David, Jennifer, Amber, Ashley; great grandchildren, Joshua, Chloe, Callie, Madison; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Charles Aubrey McBurnie; sister, Alice Durning; brothers, Harold and Gordon McBurnie. Visitation will be held 7-9 pm Wednesday, August 24 and funeral service 2pm Thursday, August 25, all in the Economy United Church, Rev. Don MacQueen officiating, with interment to follow in the Economy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
