GRAY, DR. ROBERT FORBES - Robin passed away at DECH on Monday, August 22nd, 2011. He was born in 1927 in Belfast, Ireland and was the son of the late Wilfred and Anne Gray. He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin as a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and immigrated to Fredericton in 1966 where he practiced veterinary medicine until his retirement in 2000. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice he sang with the Belfast Choral Society, was a long time member of Bel Canto, The Fredericton Choral Society and the Christ Church Cathedral Choir. An avid sportsman, Robin played soccer and rugby for Trinity College. He captained the cricket club, was a lifetime golfer and curler. Robin was a member of the CWC curling team that captured the silver medal at the Senior Men’s National Championship in 1979. In recent years he also enjoyed lawn bowling. He is survived by wife Margaret, and four wonderful daughters Rosemary McCluskey (Stephen), Maureen Levesque (Roger), Katherine Appleby (Jeff) and Karen Gray (Donny Cowle). His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Sarah and Sean McCluskey, Leo, Nicolas, Michelle and Leah Levesque, Amy and Eric Appleby, and Matt and Mitch Cowle. Robin recently lived at the White Rapids Nursing Home in Fredericton Junction. It is a wonderful place, staffed with very special people for which the family will be forever grateful. Many thanks to George for being such a good friend.
At Robin’s request, he will later be laid to rest in the family plot in Northern Ireland. A memorial reception will be held at Capital Winter Club on Wednesday, August 24th at 2 to 4pm.
