HOVDE, GLADYS MAY - born June 1, 1910 in Brompton Berrington, England, passed away Sept. 15 at the age of 99 years young. She came to Canada in October of 1913 with her parents, Jesse & Elizabeth Ford and younger brother, Jack. She was the eldest of 7 children-Jack, Roy, Malgwyn, Margaret, Katherine & Lyn who have all predeceased her. She married Osborne Hovde in 1932 and they farmed in the Success Fairhill district until they retired to Swift Current. Osborne passed away in 1972. They had no children. Glad was a little lady with a strong will and a love of life. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor; she believed everyone should have a laugh a day. She was very talented and excelled at sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting and gardening. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Glad lived in her own home until the summer of 2006 when she moved to an apartment at the Prairie View Lodge where she still lived alone with the help of her kind friends, Grace & Seymour Smith. Words alone cannot express our gratitude
to Grace & Seymour for the comfort they gave Glad in her final years. In the summer of 2008 when she could no longer live on her own due to dementia, she moved to the Prairie Pioneers Lodge. We would like to commend the wonderful staff at the Pioneers Lodge Alzheimer's unit for the excellent care given to Aunt Glad. Glad is survived by her sister in law, Gladys Ford; her nephews-Jerry Ford, Barry Crozier, Ron Jorgenson, Myron Jorgenson, Wayne Ford, Kim Ford, Kelly Ford; and her nieces-Lorna Crozier, Cheryl Meacham, Valerie Tonnellier, Diane Ford, Lou-Ann Cammer and their families. Memorial donations can be made to the Prairie Pioneers Lodge Alzheimer's Unit c/o Pat Cammer 303 - 332 Cypress Drive, Swift Current, Sk. S9H 5Bl.
