It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Helen McNamara of Havre Boucher, who died peacefully on Aug. 24, 2011, at Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
Born in 1933 in Port Hawkesbury, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Norman and Louise MacIntyre.
Much-loved by her family and community, Helen was an exceptionally service-oriented individual who worked for many charitable efforts including the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Lung Association. She was also a valued member of the Havre Boucher Volunteer Fire Department for many years and a past member of the Antigonish Liberal party executive.

Helen will be remembered for her sharp wit, can-do attitude and the deep compassion she displayed for the underdog. She will also be remembered for her keen card playing skills and voracious appetite for all sports, especially baseball and the Blue Jays.
