Sheila was born in Curling, Newfoundland on June 9, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Alexander and Isabella (McLellan) Dunphy. She was immediately faced with the challenge of helping raise four teenage sons which she did with loving care and important direction. Sheila also continued to be active in community activities including teaching; volunteering with many organizations and assisting Mount Saint Vincent University with fundraising in the Eastern United States. Upon Frank’s retirement in 1978, Sheila moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina and took advantage of the active leisure lifestyle of the area playing lots of golf, biking and tennis and welcoming many friends and family from the north. Sheila returned to Halifax in 2007 with Frank to be closer to her stepsons. Besides her parents, Sheila was predeceased by her brothers Tom, Alex, John, and her sister Maureen Dunphy Brown.
