It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of Richard Burgess at home on Aug. 23, 2011.
Richard is survived by his sons, Richard and John; grandchildren, Patty, RJ, Felicia, Kaitlyn and who always held a special place in his heart Johnathan. He is also survived by brothers, Roy and Jack; sisters, Margie, Doreen, Helen and Ann and many nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late John and Rosaline (Drinkwater) Burgess.
Besides his parents Richard was predeceased by his wife, Rose (Maclellan) Burgess, sisters, Hope, Barbra, Dolly and Sharon, and brothers, Stanley, George and Dan.
Visitation will take place Saturday, Aug. 27 from 12-2 p.m. at the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.
