John was born in England to Margaret Emily Kukkola and Leo Kukkola. The family returned to Canada at the end of World War II and he became big brother to Katherine-Anne, Karlene and Karl.
John worked hard all his life, mostly in the logging and pulp and paper industry. He loved to fish - it was never about the catching, just the fishing! He cared deeply about his family and was always willing to help friends in need.
John was predeceased by his parents and infant son Daniel John Kukkola.
John died in St. Paul's Hospital, following complications of cardiac surgery.
John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley, his son Roger (Cheryl) Robbin and Kaitlyn, daughter Lissa, (Mark) Manny and Noah, daughter Layla, Alyssa and Jason and daughter Leanna, Lynnsie and Levi. He also has one very special great-granddaughter Parker Payne.
John will also be deeply missed by his brother, sisters, parents-in-law, and brother and sister- in- law, as well as by all the many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of John's Life on Monday, August 29, at 200 p.m. in the Hills of Peace Church on Robson Drive.
