CARIBOU – Tammy Lee Nichol – 37.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Tammy on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on March 21, 1972, she was the daughter of Patti Sarson, Pictou, and step-daughter of Blake Sarson, Pictou.
Our family, as well as the community has suffered a tremendous loss. Tammy was very special, and touched many people’s lives. She lived life to the fullest everyday, she was a devoted Mom to Brandon, and loving wife to Scott. Her Mom, Patti, was her very best friend. Tammy enjoyed get-togethers with her friends and was the glue that held everyone together. She was an employee of Sobey’s for 18 years and a tireless volunteer for many organizations, especially the Pictou Lobster Carnival. Her big smile and friendly manner lit up a room, and won over everyone who knew her. Tammy loved being out on the fishing boat, as she was passionate about the water.
She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her husband of three years, Scott; son, Brandon; brother, Dean (Lindsey) Masicotte, Hamilton, Ontario; uncle, Pat Uhlman, nieces, Kathy and Carly, all of Sault Ste. Marie; chosen uncle, Dinny Cheverie, Ontario; and best friend, Rose Ineak, Pictou; brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Louise), Danny (Patti), Billy (Patti), all of Caribou; Sharon (Ralph) Bennett, Philadelphia, PA; Janice (John MacMillan), Heather (Mark) Ells, Caribou; Terri (Jason) Clish, Pictou; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Nichol, Mark (Sarah Murray) Nichol, Gabe Nichol, Brendan, Kayleigh and Spencer Nichol, Jonathan and Joseph Bennett, Riley and Cameron Clish, MacKenzie and Alyssa Ells; great-niece and nephew, Hayley and Colby Nichol; and her father, Allan (Gloria) Masicotte, Sault Ste. Marie.
Tammy was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Leo and Bawne Cook; aunt, Judy and nephew, Jamie Uhlman; aunt, Arlene China; father-in-law, Milton Nichol; and brother-in-law, Johnny Nichol.
Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday from Pictou United Church, with Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity officiating. Interment will follow in Central Caribou Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Pictou Lobster Carnival or the SPCA.
