JACKLYN, Denise Rosemary, Toronto. After a courageous battle with cancer, Denise Rosemary Jacklyn died in Toronto, Ontario on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the age of 63. Denise was the daughter of the late Laurie and Agnes Jacklin of Shelburne. Denise was a long-time employee with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. Her co-workers, at her Celebration of Life on the 2nd day of June, 2011, honored her with a Standing Guard Ceremony. Denise was well respected and loved in her neighborhood for being a caring, kind and generous person to others. She was often referred to as “Miss Jackie” by those on the streets of Parkdale where she lived for many years, and those housed at the Toronto Jail. Denise is survived by her daughter, Michelle Denise Jacklyn of Toronto, her two grandsons, Darren Laurie Wylie and Austyn Michael Arsenault, both of Toronto, and her son, Christopher Laurie Jacklyn-Smith, Halifax. Denise is also survived by her brother, Colin Jacklyn of Halifax, her sister, Geneve Quickfall, Yarmouth, and brother, Keith Jacklin of Shelburne. A celebration of Denise’s life will be held on the 4th. day of September, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne with Rev. Lawrence Hartley officiating. All friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Denise Rosemary Jacklyn.
