WOOD (Comeau), Mary M. – 70, of Yarmouth, passed away August 21, 2011 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born September 13, 1940 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Edith M. (Smith) Comeau. She loved her life and faced her illness with dignity and courage. Mary loved her dogs and loved knitting socks for her brother, Stevie, and anyone else that needed them. Mary loved her life with great passion and everyone around her. In her younger years, she worked at the Cotton Mill, Alwood Products and also worked at Scotia Gardens Seafood. She is survived by brothers, Steven (Carol) Comeau, Gerald Smith and foster brother, Danny Dalphine; sister, Brigitte Malone; stepdaughters, Joyce (Russell) Armsworthy, Judy (Gary) Hudson, Dorothy Wood and Doreen Fells; special niece, Georgina Foshey; five step-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, Maynard L. Wood; sisters, Fay Nickerson, Coral “Ella” Clairmont and Shirley Reeves; niece, Marcy Comeau. Special thanks to the nurses of the cancer clinic in Yarmouth and in Halifax. Also a special thanks to Doreen, Brigitte, Darlene, Bill and Donna for their support. Mary will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. A memorial service was held Wednesday, August 24 at 11 a.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Father Doug Chard officiated. Family flowers only, please.
