KLASSEN - Isaac (1931-2011) - Ike passed away peacefully August 21, 2011 at the Herbert Nursing home at the age of 79. Ike was born in Blumenhof Saskatchewan, and attended Balfour school until his family moved to Swift Current, where he finished his school years at SCCI. As a young man, Ike took a variety of jobs including working at Universal Cleaners and Eatons. Soon Ike found his niche as the friendly neighbourhood grocer and entrepreneur at Elmwood and Westend Grocery. He did a little part time farming as well. Ike enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing, gardening, bird watching and just being in his beloved prairies. Ike was a kind and generous gentleman whose quiet loving presence and wry sense of humour will be greatly missed. Ike was predeceased by his parents Isaac and Anna Klassen; his step-father Jacob Neufeld; his first wife Ruth (nee Schindel); his second wife Mary (nee Funk); his brothers John and Ben; sisters Mary and Lena; and infant siblings Frank and Anna. Ike is survived by his children Keith (Lorraine); daughter Holly (Robert); grandchildren Andrea, Brigitte, and Elyse; sisters Olga (Rodney), Elizabeth (Cornie); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Kassett and the staff at The Manor and the nursing home in Herbert for taking such good care of Ike. A memorial Service was held at the Full Gospel Church on thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Donations on Ike's behalf can be made to the Mennonite Heritage Village, P.O.
