Marjorie Melhoff
MELHOFF - Marjorie Grace of Swift Current, SK passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Palliser Regional Care Centre, Swift Current, SK at the age of 94 years. Marjorie was born on October 18, 1916 in Saskatoon, SK to parents Nelson and Grace Coombes. She attended school in Liberty, Success and Swift Current and went on to study at Robertson Business School in Saskatoon. On April 15, 1942 Marjorie married Ed Melhoff at the First United Church in Swift Current. She was employed with the Experimental Farm, now known as the Research Station, in the 1940's. Marjorie was a member of several clubs including the United Church Women, the Order of the Eastern Star, Club 13 and was a dedicated member of the Elmwood Golf Club, where she golfed until age 87. Other interests included bridge and tending her vegetable garden. She moved to Swift Current in December of 1933 and was involved in community activities. She loved her family dearly and was very proud of them. She will be missed by all who knew her. Marjorie leaves to mourn her passing; her children Barbara (Terry) Bymoen ; grandchildren Clark (Shannon) Bymoen, of Saskatoon, SK and Kristin (Chad) Herman of Swift Current; great grandchildren Madison Bymoen, Connor Bymoen, Jacob Herman and Carter Herman; sisters-in-law Marion Coombes of Pembroke, ON and Helen (John) Bjerstedt of Sicamous, BC as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Nelson and Grace Coombes; husband Ed Melhoff; in-laws John and Louise Melhoff; brothers Archie (Alice) Coombes and Reg (Esther) Coombes; brother-in-law Emil (Zeta) & (Isa Mae) Melhoff; sisters-in-law Annie (Cecil) L'Heureux and Min (Jack) Davidson. The funeral service was held on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the First United Church, Swift Current, with Reverend Sharon Ferguson-Hood officiating. Special music was provided by Sharon Veer. The urn bearer was grandaughter Kristin Herman. The eulogy was presented by her grandson Clark Bymoen and the ushers were Jack and Garth Melhoff. The interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK.
