HENWOOD, RICHARD JAMES - 1920-2011 - Richard James Henwood, 90, of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital. Richard was born in Albert Mines the son of the Liffie and Elizabeth (Milton) Henwood. He served oversea in WWII with the Canadian Provost Corp. Rich was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 32, Hillsborough. He worked construction for most of his life last working for Parson's Construction before his retirement. He loved being outdoors and especially hunting, fishing and cutting wood, and also enjoyed wood working. He was not bad at playing cards and would play with anyone. He will be missed by his children, Michael (Ruth) of Stoney Creek, Richard Jr. (Carol) of Salisbury, Starr Holmden (Doug) of Lower Coverdale, Mark of Lower Cape, Merrill (Marjorie) of Lower Cape, Darrell of Moncton, Lynn Brantnall (Lorne) of Moncton, Lee (Bernadette) of Calgary; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters , Muriel Hanson of Hillsborough, Marjorie Keirstead (Robert) of Amherst, Lorena Phillips (Sandy) of Lower Coverdale; brothers, Ottis of Riverview and Clayton (Jane) of Riverview. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lily (Houseman) Henwood; son, Russell; brothers, Henry and Merton.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9pm. The Legion Memorial Service will take place prior to the funeral on Thursday at 1:45pm. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday, September 1st, 2011 at 2:00pm with Pastor Leonard Geldart officiating. Interment will be in the Albert Mines Cemetery, Albert Mines, NB. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
