
Arthur John Currie
Passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 31, 2011, in his sleep in his beloved home on the Argyle Shore.
Art leaves behind his adored wife of 44 years, Barbara; daughter, Suzanne (Jim and grandchildren Rebecca and Jessica); and sons,
David (wife Ardys, grandchildren Sophie and Wyatt) and Michael (wife Dion, grandchildren Dain, Dax, Rose and Bronwyn).
Educated at Acadia, UNB Law School and New York University Law School. Art spent many years in various capacities within the federal and P.E.I. Provincial Government Justice Departments. He served under five Island Premiers with his final 13 years in government as Deputy Minister of Justice and Chief Electoral Officer for Prince Edward Island. He went on to work as Director of the Atlantic Police Academy. Finally retiring in 1996, he continued to pursue his passions of reading, watching football and other sports on TV, flying his airplane, celebrating Christmas, feeding the birds and chipmunks, trout fishing and most importantly loving his wife, children and grandchildren. He was also a member of the P.E.I. Human Rights Commission and a volunteer with the L.O.V.E. Project.

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation Friday from 6-9 p.m.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the P.E.I. Literacy Alliance or the P.E.I. Provincial Library System, Children's Collection would be appreciated.
