It is with great sadness the family of Margaret ‘Margie’ Faye McNeil announce her passing on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 at the Glace Bay General Hospital.
Margie was born in Glace Bay on June 1, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Robert ‘Bud’ and Selena ‘Sis’ (Ingraham) Shepherd.
Margie lived on Ontario for many years raising her family and working at many jobs. She had a great love of automobiles and racing and even raced in the “Powder Puff Derby”. She also loved crafts, especially ceramics, owning a ceramic and flower shop for a short period of time in Ontario. When she retired, she returned to her beloved, Cape Breton.
Margie will be sadly missed by daughters, Selena, Jamie (Steve Sipeki), Ontario and son, Travis (Tammy), Calgary. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Cassie, Cory, Jesse, Carissa, Cassey, Angela, Dustin, great-grandchild, Devon Los and former husband, Jimmy. Also surviving are brothers, Bob (Denise), Ontario, Sheldon (Lorraine), Wendel (Valerie) and sister, Sharon (Billy) Herman, Glace Bay, special aunt, Theresa Nicholson, Ontario and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Doreen, Bessie and Dave.
Besides her parents, Margie was predeceased by an infant sister.
In honouring Margie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay with a funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. John Finlayson officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.
Family flowers only please. Donations in Margie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Cape Breton Branch or a charity of choice.
