With great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of June Lorraine Clarke, on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Northside General Hospital.
June was the daughter of the late George and Annie (Short) Sheaves.
She fought a courageous battle with cancer and fulfilled her final wishes of spending a period of time at home among family and close friends at her side. June was a loving and kind woman who never lost her sense of wit and great humor during this time, having enormous love of family and friends.
She is survived by her sons Terry Clarke and Lenny Clarke both of Oshawa, ON.; her grandchildren Melanie, Melissa, Steven, Amanda, Tara and Tyson and 7 great-grandchildren; her brothers Isaac Sheaves, Vancouver, John (Ada) Sheaves, North Sydney, Clyde (Jane) Sheaves, Halifax; sister Mary (Leslie) Chase, Halifax; daughter-in-law JoAnn MacIntyre, North Sydney and several nieces and nephews.
June was predeceased by her husband John (Adrian) Bob Clarke; her son Barry Steven Clarke; daughter-in-law Colleen Jessome; granddaughter Brittany Lynn and grandson Patrick; brothers Jim and Melvin; sisters Anne and Roberta and brother George in infancy.
Special thanks to Denise McPhee and the Palliative Care unit at the Northside General Hospital, Dr. Poulos and Dr. Hickey and staff at both the Northside General and the Cape Breton Regional Hospitals and all who visited our mother at home and in the hospital. Special thanks to close friends Wayne Campbell Carolyn MacDonald, JoAnn MacIntyre, Eileen Burns, Joan Hillier and Steve Clarke for assisting with continuous support during this very difficult time.
Visitation for June will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
