BOURQUE, Francois Augustin “Gus” – 91, The Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth, and formerly of Sluice Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in The Meadows. Born August 4, 1920 in Sluice Point, he was a son of the late Alphée and Louise (d’Entremont) Bourque. Gus was a retired carpenter, and he was well known for crafting quality violins and guitars. He is survived by sons, Austin Bourque and Daniel (Gert) Bourque, both of Sluice Point; daughters, Geraldine (Donald) Bourque, Waterville; Betty (Michael) Easton, Abram’s River; grandchildren, Benjamin, Joline, Kristin, Denise, Cheryl, Mark, Rosalie, Deborah, Donna, Elwin, Tammy and Pammy; great grandchildren, Jacinthe, Luc, Dominique, Alex, Aiden, Timothy, Benjamin, Chad, Jeremy and Alyssa. Also surviving are brothers, Laurénée Bourque, Massachusetts; Ernest Bourque, Quinan; sisters, Annie (Charles) Muise, Tusket; Celestine (Harold) Muise, Massachusetts; Stella Robinson, Digby. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Bernadin, Edward and Benoit, as well as by his companion, Marion Foster. Visitation took place from 2-4 & 7-9 Friday, with prayers at 8 p.m. at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held on Saturday, September 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Amirault’s Hill, Father Maurice LeBlanc officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
