Shirley M. Ravenelle, 74, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at the Rochester Manor in Rochester, New Hampshire. Mrs. Ravenelle was born in Bedeque, P.E.I., on Aug. 3, 1937, the daughter of Eloi and Mary (Gallant) Arsenault and had been living in Rochester for the past 11 years moving from Nashua, NH., where she lived for 42 years. Prior to her retirement she worked as assistant deputy registrar for the Registry of Deeds in Hillsborough County. In her early years she enjoyed playing hockey and remained a lifelong fan, especially of the Montreal Canadiens. She enjoyed knitting and donated her handywork to local charities. Above all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving members of the family include: her husband, Richard W. Ravenelle of Rochester; two sons, Richard M. Ravenelle, wife Sally, their children Evan, Alyssa, and Anna of Goffstown, NH, and Kevin Ravenelle, wife Laurie, their children Luc, Max, and Julia of Barrington, NH; two daughters, Elaine Amazeen, husband Steve, their children Ryan and Dylan of Auburn, NH, and Karen Mills, husband Rob, their children Robbie and Alexis of Nashua, NH. She was predeceased by her brother Fred Arsenault of Pembroke, Ont., and leaves three brothers: Stanley Arsenault of Summerside, Arthur Arsenault of Calgary, Alta., and Gordon Arsenault of Mississauga, Ont. as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitations were held at the H. J. Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main Street, Rochester, NH, on Monday, Aug. 22. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. Jason Jalbert on Monday at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Rochester, NH, followed by burial in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-9956.
