Harold Donald Bradbury, age 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at the Northside General Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Charles and Pheobie (Hayward) Bradbury. Harold was a veteran of the Second World War serving in the Canadian Army. He was a carpenter by trade and former owner and operator of Bradman Sales Manufacturing in North Sydney. He was a member of the Orange Lodge in North Sydney. Harold was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney and an active member of Golden K. Kiwanis and also participated in the “Meals on Wheels” program.
Harold was an active outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his sons. He was a regular card player on the Northside and a harness racing fan.
Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annie Lillian (Hatcher) Bradbury; his four sons, Harold (Madonna), Calvin (Judy), Kenny (Dianne) and Brent (Loraine). Gamps has seven grandchildren, Kansas, Carol, Nancy, Treena, Darren, Calvin and Cory and seven great-grandchildren, Adrianna, J.R., Jade, Lexie, Geena, Juliet and Annie. He is also survived by sisters, Marie (William) Thorton, Helen, Jean, Carolin and brothers, Sony and Donnie.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Annie and Shirley and brothers, Roy and Ronnie.
Visitation for Harold will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service to be held 2 p.m. on Monday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
