ANDERTON, WILLIAM J. - 84, of Lower Sackville passed away September 2, 2011 at home. Born in Goosnargh, Lancashire, England he was the son of the late Richard W. and Eleanor Anderton. Bill - or "Papa" as he was affectionately called- served in the British Army Special Forces, in Asia during WWII. He immigrated to Canada in 1953. Bill had a successful career in the mining industry, ranging from uranium in Northern Saskatchewan to potash mining in Sussex New Brunswick. He loved his children and grand-children, travelling, gardening, fishing, reading and "Dry-Ice!" He will be lovingly remembered and missed always by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rhoda Alice (MacLeod) Anderton; daughter Cindy; sons Rod (Kim) and Richard; sister, Lavinia; grandchildren, Luke and Cale Norrad, Brittany, Caitlin and Richelle Anderton. Bill was predeceased by his brother, Richard Henry Anderton.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, Lower Sackville (864-1434). A private graveside service will take place at a later date in Oakridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Way. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Terry Mullan for the dedicated care shown to Bill during his illness.
