(1927-2011) — It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Griffin announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 3, 2011 at the age of 84 years. Margaret was a long-standing and devoted member of St. Gerard’s Guild, as well as a volunteer with numerous other charitable organizations. Margaret was predeceased by her brothers, Ronald Best and Gerard Best; sister, Laura Fillion; and parents Thomas & Laura Best. Left with fond and loving memories is her husband of 51 years, Arthur Griffin; her sons, Dennis Griffin of Langley, BC and Tom Griffin of Halifax, NS; and her daughter, Laura (Michael) Race of Grand Falls-Windsor. She also leaves to mourn her sisters, Helen (Bob) Colgan and Selina Rose, as well as her cherished granddaughters Amanda and Maria Race. Fr. William Hearn conducted the funeral service from Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Grand Falls-Windsor on Monday, September 5th at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leo Fewer, Paul Hennessey, Anthony Blackmore, Tom Rose, Garry Griffin, and Tom Hartley. Donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral services were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
